Reporting & Power BI Developer

<strong>Location: </strong>Harrisburg, PA<br><strong>Position Type: </strong>Remote (occasional travel may be required)<br><strong>Duration:</strong> 18 months + extensions<br><br><strong>Position Overview:</strong><br><br>We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Reporting & Power BI Developer to join our growing team. This role will primarily focus on designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI and related reporting technologies.<br><br>As a secondary function, the ideal candidate will also contribute to front-end application development, helping to improve user interfaces, dashboards, and web-based business tools.<br>This position is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming data into actionable insights and has a passion for creating intuitive user experiences.<br><br>This role supports a multi-year, phased software implementation program consisting of multiple releases. Each release introduces new functionality that requires structured training and documentation aligned to development timelines. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure training deliverables are completed within each release cycle.<br><br><strong>Duties:</strong><br><br><strong>Primary Responsibilities – Reporting & Power BI Development</strong><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI</li><li>Build and optimize data models, DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations</li><li>Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions</li><li>Develop automated reporting solutions and KPI tracking tools</li><li>Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across reporting environments</li><li>Integrate data from SQL databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and other business systems</li><li>Support data migration activities by working with business and technical teams to prepare, map, and validate data for reporting use</li><li>Test and validate reports and dashboards using migrated data to confirm accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business expectations</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve reporting and visualization issues</li><li>Document reporting processes, data definitions, and technical specifications</li></ul><br><strong>Secondary Responsibilities – Front-End Development</strong><ul><li>Assist in developing and maintaining front-end web applications and internal tools</li><li>Create responsive and user-friendly interfaces using modern web technologies</li><li>Support UI/UX improvements for dashboards and business applications</li><li>Collaborate with developers and designers to enhance user experiences</li><li>Participate in testing, debugging, and deployment activities</li></ul><br><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>3+ years of experience in Power BI development and reporting solutions</li><li>Strong proficiency in:<ul><li>Power BI</li><li>DAX</li><li>Power Query</li><li>SQL (queries, joins, views, stored procedures, performance tuning)</li></ul></li><li>Experience with relational databases and data warehousing concepts</li><li>Front-end development experience with:<ul><li>HTML</li><li>CSS</li><li>JavaScript</li><li>React, Angular, or similar frameworks</li></ul></li><li>Experience integrating APIs and external data sources</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration abilities</li><li>Ability to work independently in a remote environment</li></ul><br><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>Experience with Azure, Fabric, or cloud-based analytics platforms</li><li>Knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline development</li><li>Familiarity with version control systems such as Git</li><li>Experience with UI/UX design principles</li><li>Exposure to Python or other scripting languages</li><li>Microsoft Power BI certifications are a plus</li></ul>
